**Trump Jokes About Elon Musk's Persistent Presence, Raises Questions About Their Future Relationship**

Donald Trump wasted no time in making light of some of his key allies during his first meeting with Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill as president-elect. One such ally, Elon Musk, fell victim to Trump's mockery as the tech mogul was ribbed for his frequent visits to Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. "Elon won't go home. I can't get rid of him," Trump quipped on Wednesday, adding, "Until I don't like him."

According to CNN, Musk has spent "nearly every single day" of the past week at Mar-a-Lago, participating in various activities with Trump. These have included golfing, dining with Trump and his wife Melania, and even being present during phone calls with significant global leaders such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell interpreted Trump's comments as a demonstration of dominance, forcing those in the room to comply. "Everyone laughed," O'Donnell noted, describing the reaction as an "uncomfortable laugh." He pointed out that Trump's jokes often belittle his team members, underscoring his personal sense of superiority.

O'Donnell further critiqued Musk's new governmental role, co-leading the Department of Government Efficiency, a newly minted agency referred to as "DOGE." O'Donnell suggested that the position might be a "fake job" with limited power, equating it to the influence of a K Street lobbyist.

Despite Musk's apparent favorable standing due to his persistent presence, tech journalist Kara Swisher questioned the longevity of their alliance. Swisher argued that both individuals are narcissists, and eventually, there could be only one dominant figure, suggesting that Trump's need for attention could lead to a fallout similar to that with Steve Bannon. "Trump goes through people like tissues," she remarked, alluding to the inherent volatility in their relationship.

As Trump prepares to take office, the dynamics between him and Musk will undoubtedly be interesting to observe, with many speculating how long this partnership will last before the inevitable clash.
