**Trump Criticizes Carter’s Presidency During Campaign Stop As Carter Celebrates 100th Birthday**

At a campaign event in Waunakee, Wisconsin, former President Donald Trump criticized former President Jimmy Carter’s tenure, remarking that President Joe Biden has overtaken Carter as the worst president in U.S. history. Trump humorously noted that this might make Carter "the happiest man" because he would now be seen as "a brilliant president by comparison."

Earlier this year, during a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, Trump made a similar joke but mistakenly referred to the former president as "Jimmy Connors," the renowned tennis player from the 1970s, prompting laughter from the crowd.

Despite their political differences, Carter received recognition from within his home state. Republican Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, who previously clashed with Trump over the 2020 election results, declared October 1 as "Jimmy Carter Day" in honor of the former president’s 100th birthday. In his statement, Kemp, who has endorsed Trump for the upcoming election, lauded Carter for his strong convictions and dedication to community service. Kemp highlighted Carter’s numerous achievements, emphasizing his reputation as a loving husband, devoted humanitarian, and respected Sunday School teacher.

Carter spent his milestone birthday at his home in Plains, Georgia, where he has been in hospice care since February 2023. In contrast to Trump’s remarks, the Carter Center shared tributes from former Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, all praising Carter’s legacy. Notably absent was any message from Trump.
