In the latest episode of the ongoing feud between Jimmy Kimmel and Donald Trump, the former president took to his new social media platform, Truth Social, to attack the late-night host. However, in his fervor, Trump made a confusing blunder by mistaking Kimmel for legendary actor Al Pacino during his error-riddled rant.

Trump's attack on Kimmel stemmed from the late-night host's recent jab at him for referring to the alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels as a "legal expense." But instead of responding directly to the criticism, Trump veered off track and launched into a tirade about Kimmel's past performance as the host of the Academy Awards.

In his post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Kimmel had a "horrendous performance" as the Oscars host and suffered from "Trump Derangement Syndrome." He specifically honed in on an incident where Kimmel supposedly stumbled through announcing the "Picture of the Year" award, but crucially confused Kimmel with Al Pacino.

Trump falsely stated that Kimmel "stammered around as he opened the envelope" and failed to say the iconic line, "AND THE WINNER IS." However, a quick fact-check reveals that it was actually Al Pacino who presented the award, not Kimmel. Pacino's delivery was indeed surprising and stilted, but Kimmel had no involvement in the situation.

The former president's misstatement of this fact adds to the growing list of confusing and false claims made by Trump. It also highlights a recurring pattern of misstatements and flubs, which his opponents, such as the Biden-Harris campaign, are quick to criticize.

Meanwhile, Kimmel's performance as the host of the 96th Academy Awards received generally positive reviews, despite some calls for a new host. In an ironic twist, Kimmel read out Trump's social media post attacking him, quipping, "Isn't it past your jail time?" This remark has even inspired merchandise bearing the phrase.

Moreover, it's worth noting that ratings for the Oscars have been on the rise for the past three years, indicating that the Academy may have found a winning formula for a contemporary awards show, contrary to Trump's implication of declining viewership.

In response to Trump's latest blunder, the Biden-Harris campaign seized the opportunity to criticize the former president, dubbing him "feeble and confused" over the gaffe. This incident, coupled with Trump's ongoing legal trials and allegations, further fuels his opponents' narratives.

With Trump's social media presence now anchored in Truth Social, it remains to be seen how his future interactions with public figures and officials will play out. However, one thing is clear – in his attempt to disparage Jimmy Kimmel, he unintentionally confused the late-night host with an iconic actor, providing his detractors with more ammunition.
