The hush money trial involving former President Donald Trump has resumed at Manhattan Criminal Court, as Judge Juan Merchan found Trump in contempt of court for the tenth time. Trump has been fined an additional $1,000 and has been warned that the next violation of his gag order could result in jail time.

During the previous week's session, the trial took an emotional turn as Hope Hicks, Trump's former White House communication director, gave testimony. Hicks recounted her experiences during Trump's presidential campaign in October 2016 when the infamous Access Hollywood tape emerged. She stated that Trump "knew" about Michael Cohen's payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

On Monday, the jury was presented with detailed information regarding the payments made and the record-keeping practices at the Trump Organization. This was in relation to the period when Trump transitioned to the White House, and Cohen needed to be reimbursed for his services. The alleged falsified business records form the basis of the criminal charges against Trump.

As the day came to a close, the prosecution informed Judge Merchan that they anticipate wrapping up their case in approximately two weeks. There is still an extensive list of witnesses to be called.

This trial, which has captivated the nation's attention, has seen yet another act unfold in the ongoing legal battle surrounding Trump's involvement in hush money payments. With each instance of contempt of court, the tension within the courtroom grows, and the possibility of jail time looms ever closer for the former president.
