In a surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump is receiving pushback from his own supporters after he once again proposed a policy that would grant green cards to immigrants with college degrees. Trump took to social media platform Truth Social early Saturday morning to share a link celebrating the proposal, which had previously been put forth by the Washington Examiner in an opinion piece titled "Trump is right: Foreign graduates should get green cards."

However, Trump's supporters were far from pleased with the immigration proposal. Some even went as far as to declare that they had lost faith in him and would no longer support him. One disgruntled user, @punishedhumanbean, expressed their disappointment by highlighting previous Trump campaign statements about imposing stricter sentences on illegal alien criminals and his commitment towards protecting "reproductive rights" for women.

"@punishedhumanbean wrote, 'With doubling down on stapling green cards to diplomas and the post yesterday regarding 'reproductive rights', you have fully lost my vote. You are no longer the America-First candidate that you were in 2016 and 2020.'"

Another Trump supporter, @JamesDesch, expressed concern over the immigration proposal, drawing parallels to the historical "Operation Paperclip" and emphasizing the need to prioritize American jobs and education. Echoing this sentiment, @MajorKalhoun argued that offering green cards to foreign college graduates only took away opportunities from American children.

Even a self-identified "Patriot J6 'insurrectionist'" with "Trump is my president" in their bio, @PatriotHH, opposed the plan, critiquing the university system and questioning the need for foreign influence in running the country.

Notably, former Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger, who gained attention for his cross-party endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris during the Democratic National Convention, also weighed in on the matter. Kinzinger pointed out that Trump had given up on traditional Republican stances, citing his shift on defense, pride in America, immigration, and law and order. Kinzinger highlighted how Harris and the Democrats had capitalized on these perceived weaknesses in the GOP, thereby reshaping the political landscape.

In response to the criticism, Trump biographer Tim O'Brien speculated on MSNBC that Vice President Kamala Harris had gotten under Trump's skin due to her renewed energy and celebrity power. O'Brien noted that Trump's comments regarding Harris's appearance and mannerisms were veiled attempts to undermine her growing influence and charisma.

As the backlash from his own supporters intensifies, it remains to be seen how Trump will respond and whether this will impact his future political endeavors. The rift between Trump and his fanbase over this immigration proposal highlights the complexities and divisions within the conservative movement, underscoring the challenges faced by the former president in maintaining unity among his supporters.
