### Trump Confirms Plan to Use Military for Mass Deportations
President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed his intention to involve the military and declare a national emergency to carry out mass deportations of immigrants residing illegally in the United States. This information was detailed on Monday in response to a social media post on Trump's platform, Truth Social.
Tom Fitton, head of the conservative legal organization Judicial Watch, posted on November 8 that the incoming Trump administration is ready to declare a national emergency and utilize military resources to counteract what he referred to as the "Biden invasion" with a significant deportation initiative. Trump endorsed this statement with a succinct "TRUE!!!"
In his first presidential term, Trump circumvented Congress by designating a national emergency to allocate Pentagon funds towards extending the border wall. This emergency declaration was annulled by President Biden immediately upon his inauguration in 2021.
Mass deportations have been a cornerstone of Trump's campaign promises. He has committed to targeting at least 15 million undocumented immigrants, although the accuracy of this figure is uncertain. On the campaign trail, Trump outlined a strategy that includes the deployment of military personnel, supportive state and local law enforcement, and the exertion of wartime authority to achieve his goals.
To oversee the deportations, Trump has appointed Tom Homan, the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as his "border czar." Homan has pledged to reinstate workplace immigration raids and to focus on deporting individuals deemed threats to public safety and national security.
