In a desperate bid to secure more funding, Donald Trump's campaign has resurfaced a baseless accusation that his rival, Joe Biden, authorized the use of deadly force against him during an FBI search at his Mar-a-Lago compound in August 2022. The astonishing claim, which has been debunked and disregarded by law enforcement officials, was delivered to Trump supporters in an email titled "This is an Alert from Donald Trump."

The email further stated, "DEADLY FORCE? Biden authorized it. They brought guns to the raid on Mar-a-Lago!" The message sought to rally Trump's base by accusing the "Radical Left" of trying to destroy both the country and the former president himself. The email then asked for donations of up to $500 and demanded the dismissal of all charges against Trump.

However, the claim, which erroneously relied on a misquoted section of FBI policy in a legal motion, quickly unraveled. First and foremost, Trump was not present in Florida during the search. Additionally, the justice department's justice manual clearly states that deadly force can only be used when there is a reasonable belief that the subject poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury.

The FBI responded to the claim, stating that the language used in their policy was a standard procedure to limit the use of deadly force. They emphasized that no additional steps were ordered, and the search warrant execution at Mar-a-Lago was communicated in advance to Trump's Secret Service detail.

Despite the lack of evidence supporting the claim, Trump's campaign is relying heavily on this rhetoric to generate funds. Since leaving office in 2021, Trump is estimated to have spent over $100 million on legal expenses related to various investigations and indictments. With funds running low, the former president is facing a cash crunch.

Interestingly, fears of rising political violence during this election cycle primarily focus on the threat posed by far-right groups. Trump's claims of Biden authorizing deadly force against him ignore this reality. Nevertheless, Trump's campaign perceives the notion of the government working against him as a powerful tool to attract donors.

Meanwhile, Trump's trial on campaign finance charges in New York is nearing its conclusion, with final arguments expected on Tuesday. While opinion polls suggest that the trial has had little impact on public opinion thus far, a verdict could potentially sway sentiments one way or the other. Both Trump and Biden are likely to seize the opportunity to capitalize politically, with Trump's supporters gathering outside the courtroom and Biden potentially addressing the matter from the White House to demonstrate a non-political stance.

As the political heat continues to rise, the actions and statements of both candidates are sure to be viewed through a political lens, further intensifying the ongoing political polarization. With the trial's conclusion and potential verdict on the horizon, the next moves of Trump and Biden will likely be closely watched by their respective supporters.
