**Trevor Bauer Wins Court Battle, Accuser Ordered to Pay Over $300,000**
Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer scored a legal victory on Monday when a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled in his favor, ordering Lindsey Hill, the woman who accused him of sexual assault, to pay more than $300,000 for violating a settlement agreement. The 2021 allegations made by Hill led to a Major League Baseball investigation and Bauer's subsequent suspension.
Two years ago, Bauer and Hill reached a settlement after filing lawsuits against each other. Bauer had sued Hill for defamation, while Hill had countersued for assault and sexual battery. The settlement concluded with the agreement that no money was to be paid between the parties. However, Hill's attorneys later indicated in an email that she would receive $300,000 from her insurance policy.
On Monday, Judge Daniel Crowley ordered Hill to pay $309,832.02, including $220,000 for 22 violations of the agreement and additional amounts for attorney fees, costs, and interest. The violations cited were based on 21 occasions where Hill made claims on social media and a podcast that Bauer had paid her money, despite the settlement provision forbidding such statements.
Hill did not contest or respond to the lawsuit filed by Bauer in October. Even though Hill communicated with Bauer's attorneys, challenging their case and their fees, the judge ultimately sided with Bauer by default, concluding that sufficient evidence had been provided to justify the award.
Despite deactivating her X account, Hill resumed posting and acknowledged she had refused to participate in the lawsuit. She nonetheless declared her intention to appeal the ruling, aiming to "further delay any shot he ever had at getting his career back" and asserted that Bauer "will never see a cent from me."
Bauer has not appeared in a major league game since 2021, after MLB determined he had violated its domestic violence policy.
