Tragic Shooting Leaves Three Dead and Three Injured in Columbus

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic shooting incident in Columbus has claimed the lives of three individuals and left three others injured, according to local media outlet WBNS-10 TV. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of East 5th Avenue and Summit Street, triggering a swift response from the Columbus Division of Police.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement found multiple individuals who had been shot, creating a chaotic and disconcerting atmosphere, as described by Columbus Police Deputy Chief Gregory Bodker. Regrettably, two victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the third victim passed away shortly before 3:30 a.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

The three surviving victims were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving medical care for their varying conditions. Two of the victims are reported to be in stable condition, while the third remains in critical condition.

No information regarding the suspect has been released thus far, leaving authorities uncertain about the events leading up to the shooting. WBNS-10 TV reports that witnesses to the incident are cooperating with the police investigation, offering hope for potential leads in identifying the assailant.

To aid in the investigation, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office is providing assistance to the Columbus Division of Police. The Mayor's office, represented by a spokesperson for Mayor Andrew Ginther, expressed condolences and stated that local law enforcement will continue to prioritize efforts to ensure community safety and security.

This tragic incident adds to an already sorrowful week for the city of Columbus and its law enforcement agencies. Despite ongoing efforts to reduce violent crime, the community is grappling with these heartbreaking events.
