Tragic Head-On Collision on I-25 Claims Three Lives in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - In a devastating incident on Sunday, May 26, a head-on collision on I-25 at Circle Drive resulted in the loss of three lives, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:45 a.m. when the CSPD received reports of a wrong-way driver on I-25. While still processing the initial call, multiple other reports flooded in about a head-on collision.

Following the collision, a compassionate individual stopped their vehicle and rushed to lend aid to those involved in the crash. Tragically, while crossing the interstate to offer assistance, this good Samaritan was struck by another car traveling northbound on I-25.

Response units from the CSPD and the Colorado Springs Fire Department swiftly arrived at the scene. Regrettably, they discovered that the pedestrian, as well as one of the drivers, had succumbed to their injuries. The driver who had been traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate was rushed to the hospital but tragically passed away upon arrival.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers that can arise on our roads, even in the early hours of the morning. The CSPD is initiating a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision to determine the causes and any potential contributing factors.

The identities of the victims have not been disclosed as yet, pending notification of their next of kin. The exact cause of the initial wrong-way driving remains under investigation.
