Head-On Collision on I-25 in Colorado Springs Claims Three Lives, One Killed While Rendering Aid

COLORADO SPRINGS - Tragedy struck on Sunday, May 26, as a head-on collision took the lives of two drivers on Interstate 25 at Circle Drive. In a devastating chain of events, a third person was killed while attempting to render aid to those involved in the crash.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), at approximately 4:45 a.m., authorities received a distress call concerning a wrong-way driver on I-25. However, before officials could respond, multiple other calls flooded in regarding a head-on collision.

Immediately following the crash, an individual halted their vehicle and bravely stepped out to offer assistance to the injured parties involved in the collision. Tragically, while crossing the interstate to reach the victims, the kind-hearted Samaritan was struck by another vehicle traveling northbound on I-25.

Promptly responding to the scene, both the CSPD and the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) discovered that the pedestrian and one of the drivers had succumbed to their injuries. The driver responsible for the wrong-way driving was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away upon arrival.

This heartbreaking incident reminds us of the dangers of impaired or distracted driving, with the wrong-way driver endangering the lives of both themselves and innocent motorists.
