ALBANY, N.Y. - A devastating accident on Thursday on the I-87 highway in Albany has resulted in the loss of two lives, according to the New York State Police. The victims have been identified as Sabrina Bermudez, 50, from Ludlow, Massachusetts, and Paul Keiley, 64, from Rockville Centre.

Authorities arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a tractor-trailer rollover causing severe injuries. The subsequent investigation revealed that the tractor-trailer, traveling northbound, collided with a concrete barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes.

The impact of the collision caused the tractor-trailer to overturn onto a passenger car traveling in the northbound direction. Sadly, both Bermudez, who was a passenger in the tractor-trailer, and Keiley, the driver of the passenger car, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Emergency services rushed the driver of the tractor-trailer and another passenger to Albany Medical Center for treatment. The passenger is reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged. The driver, however, remains in critical condition at the hospital, but his condition is stable.

In the aftermath of the accident, northbound traffic on I-87 was temporarily closed between Exits 23 and 24 for approximately eight hours while collision reconstruction took place. The roadway has since been reopened to motorists.

An ongoing investigation will seek to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident. New York State Police are conducting the inquiry into the crash.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a reminder for all motorists to exercise caution and remain vigilant while on the roads. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time.
