In a devastating incident early Monday morning, a bus operated by Regiomontanos Autobuses veered off Interstate 20 in Warren County, Mississippi, resulting in the loss of seven lives and leaving dozens injured. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), the bus was traveling westbound when it suddenly left the highway and overturned at approximately 12:40 a.m.

Tragically, six individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while another person succumbed to their injuries at Merit Health Hospital in Vicksburg. The identity of the victims has not been publicly disclosed, but Warren County coroner Doug Huskey confirmed that among the deceased were a 6-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister, who were siblings from Guatemala. Their mother positively identified them, and it was revealed that others on the bus were also from Central America.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The Mississippi Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division, is leading the investigation to ascertain the factors that led to the bus veering off the road.
