**Tommy Paul's Comeback at French Open Overshadowed by Repossession Fiasco**
Tommy Paul managed to triumph in his first-round match at the French Open on Sunday, but his most animated discussion afterward wasn’t about tennis. It was about his truck, which recently got repossessed due to missed payments.
During an eventful day at Court Simonne-Mathieu that saw a mix of light rain, heavy wind, and sunshine, the 12th-seeded American defeated Denmark’s Elmer Moller in four sets: 6-7, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1. While his on-court performance was commendable, Paul’s story about regaining his Ford F-150 proved to be more captivating.
Earlier this month, Paul’s truck was taken away after he failed to adjust the automatic payments following a bank change. "I missed, I think it was, like three payments. They came and took it. I didn't know it happened like that. I didn't know how quick they would come and grab it - like in the middle of the night," said Paul, who has amassed career earnings of $10.8 million. His unexpected detour into the world of vehicle repossession left him amused, especially as he began watching reality shows about the process. "To be in Europe while it happened is even crazier. But we did get it back."
The revelation unfolded when Paul’s trainer, back in Florida, asked him to check his security camera footage to see if any packages needed collecting. To his bewilderment, Paul saw not only that there were no packages but also that his truck was missing. "I'm like, 'What the hell is going on? There's a tow truck coming and taking my car!' I thought it was stolen at first," he recounted.
Upon realizing the truck had been repossessed, Paul decided to share the episode in a humorous way. He posted the surveillance footage showing the tow truck taking his vehicle, accompanied by Celine Dion’s "My Heart Will Go On," adding a lighthearted twist to the stressful situation.
