Thousands of mourners are expected to gather at separate funeral services on Saturday and Monday to honor Onondaga County Sheriff Lt. Michael Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, who tragically lost their lives in a shootout last week.

The state fairgrounds in New York are making preparations to accommodate the large number of attendees by opening up Chevy Court and the Coliseum to serve as overflow venues. It is estimated that up to 15,000 people may attend the services, with the possibility of thousands more watching the live stream at the fairgrounds.

Funeral services for Officer Jensen will be held at a small church in Rome on Saturday, expected to draw a significant crowd of mourners. Meanwhile, Lt. Hoosock's services will take place at the New York State Fair Expo Center on Monday starting at 11 a.m. The use of the Coliseum for the event will provide indoor seating for up to 10,000 people, while Chevy Court can accommodate an additional 30,000 individuals outside.

In a generous gesture, Mike Estojak from North Carolina has offered to donate a tractor-trailer with a mobile screen for viewers at Chevy Court. Estojak, the owner of Mobile Technology Graphics, hopes to enhance the viewing experience for those who attend the services remotely.

While services can be viewed through local media outlets, the opportunity to gather at the fairgrounds and pay tribute to the fallen officers has been appreciated by many. The candlelight vigil held at St. Rose of Lima earlier this week demonstrated the community's support and solidarity during this challenging time.

The loss of Lt. Hoosock and Officer Jensen has deeply impacted the law enforcement community and the wider public. These service men dedicated their lives to protecting and serving their communities, and their sacrifices will be remembered and honored during the upcoming funeral services.

As the funeral procession and services for Lt. Hoosock and Officer Jensen unfold, the community is united in grief and gratitude for their heroic service.
