Comedy rock duo Tenacious D has made the decision to cancel all upcoming performances and place their future plans on hold, following remarks made by band member Kyle Gass regarding the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The duo was set to perform a sold-out show at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo on October 25.

During a concert in Sydney, Australia on July 14, Jack Black surprised Gass with a costumed robot and a birthday cake. Black then encouraged Gass to make a wish while blowing out the candles. Gass reportedly said, "Don't miss Trump next time," just hours after the attempted assassination of Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.

After the show, Black publicly distanced himself from Gass, his bandmate of 30 years. Gass' agent, Michael Greene, also parted ways with the guitarist and co-vocalist. Black released a statement on Instagram expressing his surprise and disappointment with the remarks made at the concert. He stated that he no longer felt it was appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour and that all future creative plans are now on hold.

Gass later took to social media to issue his own statement, expressing remorse for his "highly inappropriate, dangerous, and terrible mistake." He emphasized that he does not condone any form of violence and deeply apologized to those he had let down.

The canceled show in Kalamazoo was part of the Rock the Vote tour scheduled for October, where all proceeds were to be donated to Rock the Vote, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization focused on registering young people to vote. The Tenacious D website no longer lists any tour dates, but a prior news announcement about the Rock the Vote tour can still be seen.

Wings Event Center has yet to comment on the cancellation or provide information regarding ticket refunds. As of now, the show is still listed on their website, and no official statement has been made on social media regarding the band's decision to cancel the tour.

Fans have shown support for Jack Black's decision with his Instagram statement, which has received over 630,000 likes. In contrast, Kyle Gass's statement has garnered less support, with just over 50,000 likes.

The controversy surrounding Tenacious D's remarks has stirred discussions within the entertainment industry and among fans. The band's decision to cancel the tour raises questions about the future of their collaborations and leaves fans in anticipation of what's to come.
