Former President Donald Trump recently took to his Truth Social account to claim an endorsement from pop superstar Taylor Swift, despite Swift's clear lack of endorsement for any presidential candidate in the current election cycle. Trump's post on the social media platform featured a carousel of images, some of which were generated using artificial intelligence.

One of these AI-generated photos depicted Swift as Uncle Sam, accompanied by the text, "Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump." Additional images showcased fans of Swift wearing "Swifties for Trump" T-shirts. While Swift's representative did not respond to CNN's request for comment, it is clear that she has not officially endorsed Trump or any other candidate.

However, after the publication of Trump's post, an editor from Wisconsin Right Now reached out to CNN to clarify that two of the photos Trump shared were actually taken at his rally in Racine, Wisconsin, back in June. The woman pictured in these non-AI photos, named Jenna Piwowarczyk, expressed her support for the "Swifties for Trump" movement, emphasizing that many Swift fans hold conservative values and appreciate the former president.

Swift's devoted fan base, known as "Swifties," has become politically engaged during this election cycle. Following President Joe Biden's endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, a group of Swift fans formed a community called "Swifties for Kamala," which is independent of the singer. This group, with over 60,000 followers, has actively campaigned for Harris and other Democratic candidates.

While an official "Swifties for Trump" group has not been established, it is evident that Swift has conservative fans who have shown support for the former president on their personal social media accounts. Trump's campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, proclaimed that "Swifties for Trump" is a growing movement.

In the 2020 presidential race, Swift endorsed Biden and Harris, emphasizing the need for a president who recognizes the rights of marginalized communities. However, Swift has remained silent regarding Harris' presidential run this year, although fan speculation about a potential endorsement has circulated. CNN clarified that a silhouette of a woman appearing to depict Harris during Swift's recent European tour was, in fact, one of her background singers.

Swift's political activism has become prominent in recent years, as she has championed LGBTQ rights, women's rights, and reproductive health. In her documentary "Miss Americana," Swift expressed regret for not speaking up about political causes earlier in her career and voiced her opposition to Trump, tweeting her intention to vote him out in November 2020.

While the "Swifties for Kamala" group swiped back at Trump for posting AI photos, reaffirming their values aligned with Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, they emphasized that their support for Swift does not require AI-generated images. The community has raised over $10,000 for the Harris-Walz campaign.

Despite Trump's claims, it appears that he recognizes Swift's lack of endorsement. Swifties on the left have responded to the former president's post on social media platforms, firmly urging him to "stay away from her." As the election season progresses, Swift's silence in terms of endorsements leaves her fans waiting to see if she will make her political inclinations known.
