In a late-night incident on Saturday, a suspect has been apprehended by law enforcement authorities following reports of "active gunfire" at an apartment complex in Marina del Rey. According to a release by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD), deputies from the Marina del Rey station promptly responded to a call about gunshots within the complex situated in the 4100 block of Via Marina around 10:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies established a containment of the location and requested additional resources, as an LASD air unit observed a male suspect firing rounds from a rifle on the roof of the apartment complex. In response, additional units, including four Bearcat vehicles, were dispatched with an arrest team to apprehend the suspect.

Authorities successfully took the suspect into custody around 1 a.m., as captured in video footage from the scene. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed at this time. No victims have been reported, and law enforcement officials are currently canvassing the area for evidence, potential witnesses, and any additional victims.

Witnesses in the vicinity of the incident described moments of panic and fear. Kierra Swusdee, a resident of Marina del Rey, recounted her experience when encountering the large police presence: "My Uber dropped me off because my street was closed. I was walking down the [street], and this guy was crouching behind a car and was like 'Come here, there's a shooter!' so I ran and hid behind the car."

The LASD's Marina del Rey station is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They can contact the station at 310-482-6000.

As the investigation continues, residents of the Marina del Rey community and surrounding areas are hoping for a swift resolution and an assurance of their safety in the aftermath of this unsettling incident.
