### Suspect Arrested in Upper West Side Subway Shooting
Upper West Side, Manhattan (WABC) -- Chaos erupted on the subway system Thursday morning due to a shooting incident on the Upper West Side, where police have now detained a suspect linked to the disturbance. On Friday morning, Eduardo Diaz, a 42-year-old resident of Queens, was taken into custody.
Diaz faces severe charges including attempted murder, assault causing injury risk of death, assault recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon, and criminal possession of a loaded firearm. Authorities suspect that Diaz, a former employee, shot his former boss at a computer shop near 68th Street and Columbus Avenue after being terminated from his job.
The shooting victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside and is expected to survive his injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that although the workers were too shaken to appear on camera, they confirmed that the victim was in stable condition.
Following the incident, Diaz fled to the subway station at 72nd Street and Central Park West, leading to significant disruptions across Manhattan's subway lines. To assist in the apprehension, authorities temporarily shut off the power to allow officers to search the tracks, suspecting Diaz might be hiding in a tunnel north of the station. This caused evacuation of some passengers and delays on A, B, C, and D trains.
Some subway riders reported being instructed to lie on the floor of the train during the search. Investigators believe Diaz may have exited the subway system through an emergency exit at 76th Street, which directed further search efforts into Central Park on Thursday afternoon.
While the exact location of Diaz's arrest remains unclear, the heightened police activity and thorough search efforts eventually led to his capture, concluding the frantic manhunt.
