### Turmoil in Cleveland: Deshaun Watson's Performance Under Fire as Browns Drop to 1-4
The Cleveland Browns continue to struggle after another disappointing loss, bringing their season record to a dismal 1-4, now questioning the role of starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. Facing the Washington Commanders, Watson completed 15 of 28 passes for 125 yards, including a touchdown during garbage time, resulting in a lackluster passer rating of 77.2 and a QBR of 8.5. The low point of his performance was marked by a delay-of-game penalty that left head coach Kevin Stefanski visibly stunned.
Former Detroit Lions quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky did not hold back in his criticism of the Browns' situation. Appearing on ESPN's "First Take," Orlovsky slammed the team's decision to stick with Watson, describing the Browns' predicament as the "worst situation in pro sports." He argued that Watson's poor offensive performance was obvious both in-game and statistically, calling for Watson's benching as early as Week 1. Orlovsky suggested that team co-owner Jimmy Haslam, rather than Stefanski or general manager Andrew Berry, was responsible for keeping Watson on the field.
Despite the ongoing criticism, head coach Kevin Stefanski has reiterated his support for Watson. Following the loss, Stefanski admitted that the entire team needs to improve, including himself and the offensive coaching staff. He emphasized that Watson is committed to getting better and still believes that the quarterback provides the team its best chance to win.
"This is not a one-person type of deal," Stefanski stated. "When we're playing how we're playing on offense, we need everybody to do their job and do their job better. And I look at myself and how I can do that, but I believe in Deshaun, I believe in what he brings to this offense, and I believe he will play better."
As the Browns search for ways to turn their season around, the team's decision to maintain faith in Deshaun Watson will continue to be a focal point, especially with vocal critics like Dan Orlovsky questioning the leadership and direction from Cleveland's top brass.
