**Series of Shootings on Interstate 40 in Raleigh Leaves One Injured, Six Vehicles Damaged**

RALEIGH, N.C. – A string of shootings on Interstate 40 has left six vehicles damaged over the past few days, according to the Raleigh Police Department (RPD). These alarming incidents have heightened concerns among the many commuters who rely on this major highway daily.

Just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to reports of gunfire striking a vehicle near the Chapel Hill Road exit on I-40. As the investigation unfolded, additional vehicles reported being hit by bullets shortly after the initial incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in these cases.

"We are incredibly fortunate and thankful nobody was injured in today's incidents. However, we recognize that these events are concerning and frightening to those that travel on that stretch of highway, and we are taking these events very seriously," stated the RPD.

This recent wave of violence follows an earlier incident, two days prior, in which a woman sustained a gunshot wound to her leg while traveling in the same area on I-40. She was subsequently taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Monday saw yet another shooting, with a vehicle struck near the Buck Jones Road exit on I-40. Thankfully, no injuries resulted from this event either.

With no suspects currently in custody, investigators do not believe these shootings are incidents of road rage, but they do suspect that the cases are connected. The focus is now on gathering any information that could help solve what is rapidly becoming a troubling pattern for Raleigh's driving community.
