At Turning Point Action's "The People's Convention" in Detroit, Steve Bannon, a long-time ally of former President Donald Trump, delivered a fiery speech on Saturday, vowing investigations and prosecutions of those who have probed Trump and his political allies. In his address, Bannon declared that Inauguration Day in 2025 will be "accountability day."

Referring to Trump's recent conviction in New York, Bannon warned the crowd that Trump's allies would be thoroughly scrutinized. "You are going to be investigated, prosecuted, and incarcerated," he said. Bannon emphasized that this pursuit of justice had nothing to do with retribution or revenge but was a matter of ensuring accountability.

Bannon's call for accountability came in response to Trump's own comments about seeking retribution against his political opponents. Trump has perpetuated the narrative that revenge can be justified, with Bannon supporting his stance.

Trump's recent conviction has further stoked the tensions surrounding his political circle. While some allies, like former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, downplayed Trump's comments, others, including Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, have demanded explanations from the prosecutors involved in Trump's case.

The incendiary speech marks a turning point for Bannon, who is due to report to prison in two weeks. Convicted of contempt of Congress in 2022 for failing to provide documents and testimony related to the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, Bannon was sentenced to four months in prison. A federal judge has ordered him to report to prison by July 1.

Once a key adviser to Trump's 2016 campaign and a senior White House aide, Bannon has transformed into a right-wing podcaster with a substantial following among loyal Trump supporters. Despite his diminished insider status, his influence is still felt within conservative circles, as evidenced by his involvement in the ousting of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the removal of former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

Bannon's speech rallied the attendees around Trump's New York conviction, claiming the former president could potentially face 700 years in prison. He accused authorities of turning people into "political prisoners" and asserted that every person in the audience could also face imprisonment.

Promising to be the vanguard of a revolution, Bannon declared that "November 5 is judgment day. January 20, 2025, will be accountability day." In his fervent address, Bannon expressed his determination to "purge" the Justice Department and dismantle the FBI.

As Trump's sentencing for the New York case approaches on July 11, the outcome remains uncertain. The judge could decide to sentence the former president to probation or up to four years in state prison on each count, with a maximum of 20 years.

Bannon's impassioned speech sets the stage for the potential upheaval of Trump's political circle and raises questions about the future path of Trump's staunch allies. With investigations and prosecutions looming, the political landscape hangs in uncertainty, awaiting the outcomes of upcoming legal proceedings.
