In a recent announcement, Stellantis has issued a recall for nearly 1.5 million Ram pickup trucks globally. The recall aims to address a software problem that can potentially disable the electronic stability control system. The affected trucks include certain models from the 2019 and 2021 through 2024 model years, predominantly found in North America.

Stellantis highlighted in a statement released on Saturday that the recalled trucks might contain anti-lock brake software that can unintentionally cause the stability control system to shut down. The stability control system is responsible for managing the throttle and brakes to prevent skidding and maintain vehicle stability. However, the company reassured that even if the stability control system is disabled, the trucks' brakes will still function normally.

Fortunately, there have been no reported incidents of crashes or injuries associated with this software issue, according to Stellantis. However, the company is taking swift action to address the concern in adherence to U.S. safety standards, which require electronic stability control to operate throughout various driving scenarios.

Owners of the affected Ram pickup trucks will not bear any costs as Stellantis has pledged to rectify the problem by updating the software. The company will be notifying owners of the recall through letters, with the notification process commencing from October 3rd. Stellantis urges all affected owners to promptly respond to the notification and contact their nearest dealer for the necessary software update.

It is crucial for owners to comply with the recall and have their vehicles inspected and repaired to ensure the functionality of the electronic stability control system. Stellantis is dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards and will work diligently to rectify the issue and provide peace of mind for Ram pickup truck owners.

In the meantime, Stellantis encourages concerned individuals to reach out to their authorized dealers with any questions or concerns regarding the recall. The company remains committed to resolving this issue promptly and efficiently to ensure the ongoing safety of its customers.
