State of Emergency Declared in Arkansas Ahead of Solar Eclipse

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - In anticipation of the upcoming solar eclipse, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency in Arkansas. This decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors during this highly anticipated celestial event.

According to a news release, Governor Sanders has released funds from the Response and Recovery Fund to aid commercial carriers in the transportation of essential goods to customers throughout the state. In light of the expected influx of visitors, the governor expressed concern about potential hardships that could arise and emphasized the importance of providing a positive experience for all.

"We want to make sure Arkansans and all visitors have an enjoyable experience and come back again and again," stated Governor Sanders.

To address program and administrative costs, $100,000 has been allocated from the fund. The Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management will oversee the management of these funds. The state emergency declaration will remain in effect until April 10, after which normal operations will resume.

In addition to the financial resources being allocated, the Army Corps of Engineers has issued a cautionary statement regarding traffic on Arkansas dams and bridges during the eclipse. Increased visitor activity in these areas could potentially pose challenges and disrupt regular operations. As a result, the state government wants to ensure that necessary precautions are taken to maintain public safety.

The solar eclipse is a highly anticipated event that attracts people from all across the country. By declaring a state of emergency and providing financial assistance, Governor Sanders aims to ensure that Arkansas remains prepared and capable of managing the potential impacts of the eclipse.

With safety and enjoyment in mind, the state of Arkansas is taking proactive measures to create a memorable and trouble-free experience for both its residents and visitors during this celestial phenomenon.
