House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., addressed voters in Pennsylvania on Monday, clarifying that the "little secret" former President Donald Trump teased at a Madison Square Garden rally is merely a get-out-the-vote strategy and not something "diabolical."

The concept stirred speculation and panic among Democrats after Trump hinted that his confidential plan with Johnson would secure a Republican majority in the House of Representatives come Election Day. Johnson sought to quell these concerns, emphasizing that the secret is a straightforward voter mobilization tactic.

"It's nothing scandalous, but we're having a ball with this. The media, their heads are exploding. 'What is the secret?'" Johnson said at an event for GOP congressional candidate Ryan Mackenzie, as reported by The Hill. He elaborated that the strategy was simply a method to encourage voting, and joked about the hype it generated, even mimicking an evil plot.

Trump’s comments were initially made on Sunday, where he suggested that this undisclosed plan could significantly impact the congressional elections in favor of the Republicans. "I think with our little secret we're going to do really well with the House, right?" Trump stated, playfully hinting at the strategy's potential impact without disclosing specifics.

The mystery surrounding Trump’s statement led to waves of anxiety among Democrats, with some fearing that it might involve attempts to undermine the election outcome. Representative Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., voiced concerns in a New York Times report, suggesting that Trump might have a "backup plan" to interfere with the election process if Republicans lose.

Johnson dismissed these speculations in comments to The Hill, labeling them as "absolute, utter nonsense." Emphasizing his background as a constitutional law attorney, Johnson assured that their actions were rooted in legality and constitutional principles. "We're going to respect the law. We're going to follow the constitution to a T," he stated.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung also downplayed the fears, citing Trump's numerous telerallies aimed at energizing Republican voters across the country as part of the overall strategy.

Johnson concluded by reiterating that Trump's use of the term "secret" merely described their voter turnout efforts, which he believes are being misinterpreted due to Trump's significant support from various demographics. "It's not diabolical. It's actually very good. It's going to help us with the turnout," Johnson noted, commenting on the reactions from Democrats.
