Thieves targeted two more homes in the western San Fernando Valley on Thursday night, adding to the rising number of burglaries in the area over the past month. The latest incident occurred in Sherman Oaks, where a resident reported two individuals attempting to break into their home on Addison Street near Van Nuys Boulevard. The burglars managed to escape before the arrival of law enforcement, leaving the homeowner shaken but uninjured.
This incident marks at least the tenth burglary in the area since mid-July, causing growing concern among residents and business owners in the west Valley. The frequency of these burglaries has put both individuals and establishments on edge, calling for increased security measures to combat the rising criminal activity.
Earlier on the same day, police responded to another break-in on Rancho Street in Encino. The homeowners returned to find their property ransacked around 9 p.m. Authorities are investigating the link between all the incidents but have not determined if they can be attributed to a single crew.
Fernando Lopez, the owner of El Mariachi Mexican Grill in Encino, expressed his frustration with the situation after his restaurant was robbed that same morning. He emphasized the need for more sophisticated security systems to assist law enforcement in apprehending perpetrators in the act.
Residents, like Elmer Tzoz, have voiced their concerns about the lack of safety in the area. Tzoz appreciates the efforts of the police but hopes for additional measures to reduce crime and improve the well-being of the community.
As the investigation continues, it remains unclear if anything was stolen from the recently targeted homes and if the incidents are connected to each other. Law enforcement agencies are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, providing crucial information to aid in solving these crimes.
The recent surge in burglaries highlights the urgency of finding effective solutions to address the growing crime rate in the western San Fernando Valley. With residents feeling unsafe and local businesses suffering, the community is yearning for enhanced security measures to bring peace of mind to its residents.
