**Sophie Turner Criticizes U.S. Laws as She Embraces Return to the UK**
Actress Sophie Turner has not held back her thoughts on some American laws during her feature in Harper's Bazaar's December and January issue. The 28-year-old "Game of Thrones" star shared her dissatisfaction with certain U.S. policies, paralleling them with her enthusiasm about returning to her homeland, England.
Free from a period she described as putting her life on hold, Turner, who was married to 35-year-old pop star Joe Jonas for six years, expressed her relief and happiness to be back in the UK. During her marriage, the couple welcomed two daughters, Willa, who is now four, and Delphine, who is two. Despite her time in the U.S., Turner always felt a disconnect, missing her close-knit connections in London. She recounted poignant moments to the publication, like a recent dinner where a friend lamented never having touched her pregnant belly, emphasizing the void of shared key experiences.
Addressing her criticism of U.S. laws, Turner highlighted particular issues such as gun violence and the controversial reversal of the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which had protected a woman's right to abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. She pointed out how these legislative changes contributed to her eagerness to leave.
Turner has since moved forward in her personal life, sharing a romantic connection with aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, with whom she recently went Instagram official. She also spoke candidly about motherhood, revealing how her children have transformed her struggles with depression and anxiety into a motivating force. Turner wants her daughters to see her thriving in her social and professional life.
To underscore her commitment to her children, Turner said, "I want them to see a hard-working mum. I’ll come back and say, 'This is why Mummy was away - it’s because she’s doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents.'"
In recognition of her impressive career and impactful performances, Turner is set to receive the esteemed Performance Award at the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024.
