### SNL Ridicules Trump’s Latest Stunt with a Garbage Truck

On Saturday Night Live’s (SNL) latest edition, hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che took shots at former President Donald Trump’s recent press conference held from a garbage truck at a Wisconsin airport. The stunt came against the backdrop of the escalating rhetoric around "garbage" in the ongoing election campaigns, with both sides reeling from disparaging remarks.

Jost opened the segment by displaying a photo of Trump in a bright orange high-visibility vest, quipping, "Former President Donald Trump seen here after being rescued after 30 days in a lifeboat." He continued to chuckle as he described Trump’s unusual press conference location, "inside a garbage truck with his name on it." Adding to the humor, Jost highlighted a moment when Trump struggled twice to open the truck’s door, joking, "He looks as drunk as I'm gonna be Tuesday night."

The origin of the ‘garbage’ theme can be traced back to a contentious statement by President Joe Biden last Tuesday, where he allegedly called Trump supporters "garbage." This was seemingly in response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s derogatory comment at a Republican rally in Madison Square Garden, where he referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage." Capitalizing on this theme, Donald Trump Jr. took to social media, donning a Halloween costume made of trash bags and accessorized with plastic bottles and brown paper, complete with a Make America Great Again cap.

Trump’s garbage truck appearance wasn’t the only odd moment mocked by SNL. During a different rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Trump declared he would "protect women whether women liked it or not." Jost sarcastically remarked that Trump would ensure anyone posing a danger to women wear an orange vest, revisiting the high-vis photo of Trump.

Che also took part in the satire by playing a clip of Trump seemingly miming an inappropriate gesture with a microphone at a Milwaukee rally. The audience was left to guess what the former president was miming.

The episode didn’t spare the Democrats either. Jost shared a doctored image showing Biden tied up and gagged in the White House, implying he was restrained while Vice President Kamala Harris delivered campaign-closing arguments. Additionally, last week’s viral photo of Biden pretending to bite a baby dressed as a chicken at a Halloween event was humorously mentioned.

Adding to the night’s surprises, Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on the show, appearing in a skit with Maya Rudolph, who has famously portrayed her on SNL since 2019. The segment featured the two engaging in a mirror sequence filled with playful word variations of Harris’s name such as "Dramala" and "Palmala."

Overall, Saturday Night Live’s weekend update highlighted the chaos and absurdity surrounding the current political climate, with its typical sharp and comedic lens.
