In a tragic incident at a Turkish wedding in Thionville, northeast France, a man in his 30s was killed and multiple others were wounded in a shooting. According to French media reports, three armed and hooded men arrived at the wedding reception venue late on Saturday night and opened fire on the guests.

The Le Figaro newspaper, quoting police sources, revealed that the attackers arrived at around 01:15am local time with the intention to settle scores between well-known gangs in the Moselle region. The gunmen unleashed a hail of bullets towards the guests, who were outside the Eden Palace celebrating the occasion.

Among the wounded victims was a pregnant woman, and three others remain in critical condition at the nearby Bel-Air hospital. The injured individuals are said to be between 25 and 50 years old. The attackers, who reportedly used automatic weapons and shotguns, fired several dozen rounds before fleeing the scene before the emergency services arrived.

Local authorities are now investigating whether the assailants' getaway vehicle originated from Germany or Luxembourg, both located in close proximity to Thionville, approximately 15km (9.3 miles) away. The region of Lorraine, where the incident occurred, has been plagued by violent incidents linked to drug trafficking in the past.

According to Le Parisien, the victims involved in the shooting, including the deceased and injured, are individuals with prior involvement in drug-related cases and are known to the authorities.

This shocking act of violence has sent shockwaves through the community and highlights the urgent need to address the growing issue of gang-related crime and drug trafficking in the area. The police are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of the residents.

As the investigation continues, the thoughts and condolences of the community are with the families and loved ones of the victims, as they grapple with the devastating aftermath of this senseless attack.
