**Georgia Sheriff Sparks Controversy with Burger King Dispute**

A Cobb County Sheriff’s dissatisfaction with a Burger King order escalated dramatically as he dispatched deputies with lights flashing and sirens blaring to the restaurant. Sheriff Craig Owens was caught on bodycam footage demanding the name of the restaurant owner following a mix-up with his order on March 4, 2023. This incident recently came to the forefront due to Owens' reelection campaign.

The commotion started in a Burger King parking lot, where Owens, in his truck, instructed a deputy to obtain the contact information of the owner or manager after the staff allegedly messed up his Whopper order. Owens emphasized that he did not want his money back but sought to file an official complaint.

The footage reveals three deputies arriving at the fast-food outlet, creating a scene that startled employees, prompting them to lock the door. The deputies, after coaxing the staff to let them in, clarified their purpose to the assistant manager, stating they were simply there to gather names for a complaint.

This event resurfaced when David Cavender, Owens' challenger in the sheriff’s race, posted the bodycam videos online. Mike Dondelinger, Cavender’s spokesman, criticized Owens, describing the situation as an abuse of power and unsafe for both the deputies and the public.

In response, Owens defended his actions, explaining that he did not identify himself as a law enforcement officer and asserted that his request for information was standard procedure for anyone with a business dispute. Owens acknowledged the incident as a distraction from his leadership role and expressed his commitment to rebuilding trust within the community.
