In a swift response to an emergency situation, police in Auburn, Maine canceled a shelter-in-place order after reports of an armed person in an area where multiple explosions and a house fire occurred early Saturday. The Auburn Police Department took to Facebook to inform the public that the situation had been resolved and that there was no longer a threat to the community.

The incident, which unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning, prompted authorities to issue the shelter-in-place order as a precautionary measure. Details regarding the armed person and the exact nature of the emergency were not released by the department.

During the course of the emergency response, homes were evacuated, and a section of the avenue was cordoned off by police. Auburn Fire Department Captain Chris Moretto reported that three explosions, believed to be linked to the fire, occurred around 2:15 a.m. Another explosion was reported shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Lewiston Sun-Journal.
