In an unexpected turn of events, Senator Lindsey Graham has pledged his assistance to the White House in achieving a crucial normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel. In a recent interview with CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union," Graham emphasized the need for urgency, stating that time is running out.

The South Carolina Republican believes that a successful deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel would not only put an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict but also isolate Iran and bring hope to the Palestinian people. Additionally, Graham argued that such an agreement would provide real security to Israel. He expressed confidence in his Republican counterparts, assuring that they would support the deal and not undermine it.

Graham revealed that he has had two conversations on the matter with President Joe Biden and has been working alongside Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to help normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel. Blinken is currently on his way to Saudi Arabia to meet with regional partners, amidst stalled hostage negotiation and ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.

During his trip to Saudi Arabia last month, Graham met with Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, where they had a brief five-minute phone call with former President Donald Trump. It is important to note that the call did not include discussions about the normalization talks.

Addressing concerns about Trump's potential involvement and its impacts on a potential deal, Graham stressed that the former president desires an end to the violence and seeks peace. He further emphasized the importance of saving lives before the upcoming election in November.

Graham called upon the White House to finalize a mutual defense agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia. He highlighted that without the treaty, Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman cannot recognize Israel, and finding a solution to the Palestinian problem is a crucial element of the deal. Graham emphasized that without this agreement, there will be no resolution to the Palestinian issue.

If the White House successfully lands the Saudi-Israel normalization deal, Graham believes that there will be significant support among Republican lawmakers in the United States Senate. He also acknowledged that Trump should receive credit if the deal builds upon the foundation of the 2020 Abraham Accords, which led to Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates recognizing Israel's sovereignty.

The pursuit of a normalization agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel remains a high-stakes endeavor for the White House, with Senator Lindsey Graham lending his support and urging officials to take swift action. The potential impact of such a deal on the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iran's isolation, and the hopes of the Palestinian people cannot be understated.
