S. Senator John Fetterman's recent car crash has brought to light his history of risky driving behaviors, according to Pennsylvania state records. This is not the first time the senator has been involved in speeding incidents, as he has received two speeding tickets in his home state. The most recent ticket was in March of this year, where he was found to be going 34 mph over the speed limit in Westmoreland County. Prior to that, he received a ticket in April 2016 for speeding at least 24 mph above the speed limit in Warren County.

Following the March ticket, Fetterman was required by Pennsylvania law to take a "driver's improvement course," as reported by the Washington Post. The report also mentions that the senator's aides have expressed concerns about his habit of texting and FaceTiming while driving. This has prompted fears among his staff, leading them to avoid riding with him when he is behind the wheel and refrain from contacting him while he is driving.

When asked about these allegations, Senator Fetterman declined to provide specific answers, but his spokesperson dismissed them as "inaccurate" and "gossip." The spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment from The Inquirer. These reports come at a time when the senator's office has experienced a series of staff departures, including his longtime political adviser, chief of staff, and three top communications officials.

A recent poll conducted by The Inquirer, New York Times, and Siena College revealed that Senator Fetterman's overall favorability rating stands at 48%, just 1 percentage point less than his U.S. Senate counterpart, Senator Bob Casey. However, 41% of registered voters have expressed unfavorable views of Fetterman.

Sunday's car crash took place in Maryland and resulted in the senator, his wife, Gisele, and a Pennsylvania woman being hospitalized after Fetterman's vehicle rear-ended the woman's car. According to the Maryland State Police report, a witness observed Fetterman's vehicle exceeding the speed limit, which was posted at 70 mph. The report states that the person who was hit was not distracted, but it is unknown whether Senator Fetterman was distracted at the time.

Fetterman and his wife were taken to a local hospital for evaluation "out of an abundance of caution," according to a statement from his spokesperson. The incident also coincided with the couple's 16th wedding anniversary. No citations have been issued, and the Maryland State Police are currently investigating the crash.

The car crash and the revelations about Senator Fetterman's driving history have raised concerns about his behavior on the road and the safety of those around him. As the investigations continue, it remains to be seen how this incident will affect his political standing and public perception.
