**Sen. Cory Booker Releases Book Expanding on Record-Breaking Senate Speech**
Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey is set to release a new book, "Stand," on November 11, according to St. Martin's Press. The book builds on Booker's recent, historic Senate floor speech from April, where he spoke for just over 25 hours, marking the country's longest continuous Senate floor speech.
In his speech, Booker vocally opposed various Trump administration policies, ranging from the desire to incorporate Canada into the United States to proposed budget cuts targeting Social Security offices. This upcoming book aims to explore the essential virtues necessary for national success, drawing inspiration from the experiences of past generations who championed these ideals.
Booker's marathon speech eclipsed the previous record held by South Carolina's Senator Strom Thurmond. Thurmond, a southern Democrat and segregationist, spoke against the Civil Rights Act of 1957. In contrast to Thurmond's opposition to civil rights, Booker used his lengthy oration to advocate for social justice and equitable policies.
During his extensive speech, Booker received assistance from fellow Democrats, who helped by posing questions, allowing him brief pauses from his monologue. The 56-year-old senator's commitment underscores his dedication to the issues he addressed and sets a new benchmark for Senate speeches.
