According to sources close to former President Donald Trump, Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas is rapidly rising as a prominent choice for Trump's vice-presidential candidate in the 2024 campaign. The New York Times reported on Friday that Trump highly values Cotton's dependability and effective communication of policies.

Trump has been tight-lipped about his selection process for his running mate, keeping his cards close to his chest since the beginning of his campaign. He has often mentioned different names at various times, leaving speculation and uncertainty in the air. Cotton, too, has chosen not to confirm or deny any rumors surrounding his prospects for a hypothetical second Trump administration.

In an interview with Fox News on Monday, Sen. Cotton stated, "I suspect only Donald Trump knows who is really on his short list." He emphasized their discussions on strategies to secure a victory in November's election, supporting Trump's bid for another term in the White House, along with the goal of electing a Republican Congress to address the perceived damage caused by President Joe Biden's administration.

While several former opponents of Trump, such as Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, and former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, are considered as potential vice-presidential hopefuls, a new contender has emerged in the form of Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio.

The campaign recently clarified that former primary opponent Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor and UN ambassador, is not being considered for the role. Amidst all the speculation, Trump's final decision is expected to be announced at the Republican National Convention in July.

The selection of Sen. Cotton as a top contender for Trump's potential running mate reflects the former president's desire for reliability and effective policy communication. The suspense surrounding the vice-presidential candidate continues, leaving many eagerly anticipating Trump's ultimate choice.
