### Pollster Ann Selzer Analyzes Inaccurate Iowa Poll after Kamala Harris's Apparent Lead Against Trump

Renowned pollster J. Ann Selzer is scrutinizing her recent data after her pre-election poll inaccurately predicted Vice President Kamala Harris leading in Iowa, which caused quite a media frenzy. The Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll, released just days before the election, showed Harris overtaking former President Donald Trump in a state he has historically performed well in.

According to the Des Moines Register, Selzer's latest poll suggested a significant 7-point shift in favor of Harris compared to a previous September poll, which had Trump ahead by 4 points. The results from Saturday indicated Harris leading 47% to 44% in Iowa, a state Trump had easily won in both 2016 and 2020, and which was not anticipated to be competitive in 2024.

Selzer, the president of Selzer & Co., declared Harris had "leapt into a leading position" just before Election Day. Major media outlets such as MSNBC, CNN, and ABC's "The View" widely publicized Selzer's forecast. Rachel Maddow of MSNBC expressed excitement, stating that if Selzer's poll was accurate, it implied Harris might win Iowa. Panelists on "The View" praised Selzer, referring to her as "always right" and highlighting her strong track record.

However, when the Fox News Decision Desk called Iowa for Trump on election night, Selzer's poll was proven inaccurate. Trump supporters quickly criticized the poll's credibility. Deputy Political Director Alex Latcham congratulated Trump and Vance on their victory, noting the eagerness of Iowa voters for Trump's leadership. Co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita took to X, sarcastically suggesting Selzer enjoy her retirement, alongside a screenshot labeling her the "best pollster in politics."

Addressing the inaccurate poll results, Selzer expressed her intent to review the data. "Tonight, I'm of course thinking about how we got where we are," Selzer stated, acknowledging the discrepancy between her poll findings and the actual election results. She emphasized her commitment to investigating the causes behind the inaccuracy.

Shawn Carney, founder of 40 Days for Life, criticized media narratives that assumed women's sole concern was access to abortion. He remarked that the media's portrayal failed to align with broader voter priorities such as economic stability, safety, and family values. Carney emphasized that the election results demonstrated Americans' rejection of the media's pushed agenda.
