### Ten Inmates Escape New Orleans Jail After Breaching Wall

In a startling incident, ten inmates escaped from the Orleans Justice Center in New Orleans by breaching a wall behind a toilet, with local authorities suspecting that internal assistance may have played a role. So far, only one escapee has been recaptured.

Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson revealed in a press conference that the detainees might have received help from individuals inside the department. The escape occurred around 1 a.m. when the inmates exploited defective cell locks, exited through a door used for supply deliveries, scaled a wall, and ran across the interstate. The phrase "Too Easy LoL" was found scrawled above the breach point with an arrow pointing to it.

The jailbreak was not discovered until a routine headcount at 8:30 a.m., highlighting a significant lapse in security protocols. Despite a lockdown protocol typically enforced at 10:30 p.m., the inmates took advantage of the faulty locks to make their escape.

The ten escapees have been identified as Corey Boyd, Dkenan Dennis, Jermaine Donald, Derrick Groves, Antoine Massey, Robert Moody, Kendell Myles, Gary Price, Leo Tate, and Lenton Vanburen. Their charges range from murder to aggravated assault with a firearm and false imprisonment with a weapon. Initially, officials reported 11 escapees, but this was later corrected to ten due to a miscount.

Kendell Myles, one of the escaped inmates, was captured hiding under a car in a hotel parking garage. He was apprehended after attempting to flee from deputies. Myles was previously charged with attempted second-degree murder and now faces an additional charge of simple escape.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry commended Troop NOLA for their swift action in recapturing Myles. Sheriff Hutson stated that efforts are ongoing to return the other nine inmates to custody and to investigate the details of the escape, acknowledging that security lapses played a critical role in the incident.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill expressed strong disapproval, stating that the escape was inexcusable. The sheriff’s office has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the escaped inmates, who are considered armed and dangerous, by contacting Crime Stoppers or 911.

The escapees managed to yank a cell door off its track, break open another door, and use toiletries to remove bolts and fixtures. These actions occurred under the watch of a corrections monitoring technician. Video surveillance footage shows the inmates exiting through a supply door, scaling a wall, and fleeing across the interstate.

This serious breach of security was only discovered more than seven hours later, causing a frantic response from jail staff and local law enforcement. Efforts are ongoing to ensure no further lapses occur and to understand how this drastic security breach became possible.
