Law enforcement sources have reported that Donald Trump was safely taken to a secure location by the Secret Service after agents opened fire on an individual suspected of carrying a gun near the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon and prompted swift action from the security team.

According to sources, the Secret Service noticed a suspicious individual, potentially armed, either on or near the golf course. Observing what appeared to be the barrel of a weapon, an agent fired multiple shots in response. The quick response ensured the safety of the former president.

Shortly after the incident, Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, confirmed that the former president was unharmed, stating, "President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time." Meanwhile, the suspect was later apprehended by local police on Interstate 95.

This alarming event comes barely two months after a similar incident, where Thomas Matthew Crooks fired at Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, resulting in a minor ear injury. The immediate response from law enforcement highlights the ongoing security concerns surrounding the former president.

Senator Lindsey Graham swiftly expressed admiration for Trump's resilience, speaking with him after news of the shooting broke. Graham stated, "Just spoke with President Trump. He is one of the strongest people I've ever known. He's in good spirits and he is more resolved than ever to save our country."

The Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach is located approximately five miles inland from Mar-a-Lago, a property Trump frequently referred to as the "Winter White House." The Secret Service, still facing scrutiny after the previous assassination attempt, released a statement indicating that they are investigating the "protective incident" involving the former president, in cooperation with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Initial reports suggested a possible exchange of gunfire between two individuals, but sources now believe that the Secret Service agent was the sole shooter in this incident. The motive behind the suspect's actions remains unknown.

Shortly after the incident, the White House issued a statement expressing relief that Trump was safe, ensuring that both the President and Vice President would be continuously updated about the security situation at the Trump International Golf Course.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
