In a concerning development, an office in Tempe, Arizona used by Kamala Harris' campaign was targeted by gunfire early Monday morning. This marks the second such attack on the same location within a week, according to investigators.

Local police responded swiftly after calls from staffers reported damage to the office. Upon investigation, officers discovered at least five bullet holes in the windows and door. Fortunately, no one was present in the office during the overnight hours when the attack occurred.

"This raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby," Tempe Police spokesperson Sgt. Ryan Cook told ABC News. Cook reassured the public that the police were analyzing evidence from the scene and implementing "additional measures" to ensure the safety of staff and other individuals in the vicinity.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear as the investigation continues. This incident follows a similar attack just a week prior, on September 16, which involved a BB or pellet gun. That earlier shooting also took place shortly after midnight, resulting in "criminal damage," according to the police.

Arizona Democratic Party Chair Yolanda Bejarano expressed dismay over the repeated violence in a statement to ABC News Phoenix affiliate KNXV. "It's extremely sad that the Arizona Democratic Party has become the target of violence - it's not who we are as Arizonans or Americans. We are working with law enforcement to ensure this threat is taken seriously and that our staff members are safe while they're at work," she stated.

The rise in political violence threats has put law enforcement agencies across the country on heightened alert. Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit Arizona on Friday.
