### Georgia Confirms Russian-Origin Bomb Threats Against Polling Locations

Georgia's Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger disclosed on Tuesday that a bomb threat was reported at a polling station. Raffensperger clarified that the threat, which was traced back to Russia, was not deemed credible. This incident impacted between five and seven voting precincts across multiple counties in Georgia.

"In the interest of public safety, you always check that out," Raffensperger stated, acknowledging the potential danger, although the threat was identified as non-credible. He suggested that the Russian actors are attempting to disrupt the election process. "They don't want us to have a smooth, fair, and accurate election," Raffensperger added.

Federal authorities were involved in handling the threat, although Raffensperger did not specify which agencies were part of the response team. He confirmed that law enforcement effectively managed the situation on Tuesday morning.

Supporting this, the FBI reported that several bomb threats were sent to polling locations in multiple states. These threats seemed to originate from Russian email domains. Despite the widespread alert, none of the threats have been credible so far. "We will continue to work closely with our state and local law enforcement partners to respond to any threats to our elections and to protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote," the FBI stated.

Georgia, as a critical battleground state in the upcoming election, remains a focal point for foreign interference attempts. This latest incident is not an isolated one. Previously, Russian actors were blamed for circulating disinformation through a video showing an alleged multiple voting instance by a Haitian immigrant. Raffensperger's office condemned the video as "targeted disinformation" likely produced by "Russian troll farms."

Additionally, Georgia's election infrastructure has faced cyber threats, notably a denial-of-service attack on October 14 against the Secretary of State's website. However, measures like incorporating a human verification step have since mitigated the risk.

These developments underscore the ongoing challenges and international interference threats as Georgia moves forward in a closely watched election.
