In a bid to enhance consumer privacy, NBCUniversal has rolled out new measures allowing residents in specific states to exercise more control over their personal information. As part of their Privacy Policy, NBCUniversal has introduced "Your Privacy Choices" which includes options to opt out of the sale or sharing/processing of personal data for targeted advertising activities.

The new system gives residents in states listed under the "Your Rights" section of NBCUniversal's Privacy Policy the ability to submit a form to opt out of the sale, sharing, or processing of their personal information such as name, email address, and other associated data. By toggling the "Allow Sale of My Personal Info or Sharing/Processing for Targeted Ads" option to the "OFF" position and clicking "Confirm My Choice," users can limit the use of their personal information for targeted advertising purposes.

While this move is aimed at providing a more relevant online experience, NBCUniversal has acknowledged that certain online ad partners may combine the personal information provided with data from different sources to assist with related advertising activities. This practice, classified as "selling" or "sharing/processing" for targeted online advertising under current laws, can now be opted out of by residents in the relevant states.

It's crucial to note that the choices regarding cookies and device identifiers are specific to the website or app of the brand being accessed. Opt-out preferences must be managed separately for each site/app and across different browsers and devices used. Additionally, if cookies are cleared, the opt-out preferences will need to be renewed.

While residents of the listed states can exercise their privacy control options, it must be highlighted that these choices do not apply to individuals outside of the mentioned states. NBCUniversal will not detect or implement these preferences for users in non-listed states, even if the toggle is turned off.

The new privacy control measures aim to give residents more targeted control over their personal information while browsing NBCUniversal services. By opting out of the sale, sharing, or processing of personal data for targeted ads, users will still receive advertisements, but they may be less relevant or based solely on NBCUniversal's first-party information about the users.

In conclusion, NBCUniversal has introduced new privacy control measures allowing residents in specific states to opt out of the sale, sharing, or processing of personal information for targeted advertising purposes. By giving users more control over their data, NBCUniversal aims to enhance consumer privacy in compliance with privacy laws.
