In the second night of the Republican National Convention, Republican speakers focused on contrasting legal immigrants who followed U.S. laws with those who entered the country illegally. The evening's theme, "Make America Safe Once Again," was centered around the Republican campaign message of cracking down on illegal immigration, a stance repeatedly promoted by former President Donald Trump.

Highlighting their own family experiences, numerous speakers emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and called for sealing the southern border. Vivek Ramaswamy, a former GOP nominee who delivered a speech on Tuesday, spoke about America's belief in the rule of law, stating that the first act of entering the country must not break the law. He pledged to seal the southern border on day one, echoing a promise made by Trump if re-elected in November.

Ramaswamy, who has expressed interest in filling Ohio's Senate seat, further asserted that every legal immigrant, like his parents, deserves the opportunity to provide a better life for their children in the United States. However, he emphasized that illegal immigrants should return to their country of origin, not because they are all bad people, but because they broke the law upon entering the country.

Hung Cao, Virginia's Republican candidate for the Senate, shared his family's immigration story from Vietnam, highlighting their escape prior to the fall of Saigon to the communists. Cao, who is seeking to unseat Democratic Senator Tim Kaine, criticized immigrants who fail to embrace American culture and the rule of law. He called attention to illegal aliens flooding the border and engaging in activities like flying Hamas flags on campuses, stating clearly that those who come to America must obey its laws and embrace its culture if they seek the American dream.

Enforcing immigration laws was a major focus for other speakers as well. Representative Jim Banks of Indiana, who is running for the Senate, expressed his commitment to securing the border under Republican leadership. He bluntly stated that those who entered the country illegally during Joe Biden's presidency would be sent back to their countries of origin once Donald Trump is in power.

The Republican speakers at the RNC reinforced the party's stance on immigration, stressing the importance of following U.S. laws and condemning illegal entry. With "Make America Safe Once Again" as their guiding theme, they showcased their own family experiences as models for legal immigration, while urging for stricter enforcement at the southern border.
