**Rep. Mace Introduces Resolution to Ban Transgender Women from Using Female Bathrooms in U.S. Capitol**

In response to the recent election of Sarah McBride, who is poised to become the first openly transgender person in Congress, Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., has initiated efforts to restrict transgender women from using female bathrooms at the U.S. Capitol. On Monday, Mace introduced a resolution aimed at preventing lawmakers and House employees from accessing single-sex facilities that do not align with their biological sex.

When questioned by reporters on Tuesday if her resolution was a reaction to McBride's election, Mace confirmed, stating, "Yes and absolutely, and then some." She emphasized her commitment by saying, "I'm absolutely 100% gonna stand in the way of any man who wants to be in a women's restroom, in our locker rooms, in our changing rooms. I will be there fighting you every step of the way."

Mace expressed her desire to see this resolution included in the House Rules package for the upcoming Congress. Additionally, she revealed ongoing efforts to develop legislation that would extend this ban to all federal properties and federally funded schools.

In a social media post on X Monday night, McBride addressed the issue by highlighting the daily interactions Americans have with individuals from diverse backgrounds, insisting that members of Congress should exhibit the same level of respect. McBride’s spokesperson, however, declined to provide further comments on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., voiced her opinion that Mace's proposed legislation does not go far enough. Greene also implied her willingness to engage in a physical confrontation if McBride were to use women's restrooms.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., acknowledged the complexities of the situation, noting that Republicans are striving to find a workable solution that accommodates McBride. "This is an unprecedented matter, so we're going to, we'll find a resolution that solves the problem, but we're working on that... and stay tuned for how we respond," Johnson explained. He reiterated the importance of treating all new members with dignity and respect, emphasizing the necessity of a deliberate and consensual approach to this novel issue.
