In a heated display of opposition, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) launched scathing remarks directed at Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and her fellow House members for approving a significant foreign aid package benefiting Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Greene, a vocal critic of allocating more funds to Ukraine, expressed her anger towards Johnson, whom she had previously introduced a motion to vacate.

The trigger for Greene's ire was a social media post by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on platform X, in which he expressed gratitude towards Speaker Johnson for a decision that he believed would uphold historical continuity. Displeased with Ukraine's appreciation, the staunchly right-wing Georgia Republican denounced Johnson for pushing through a foreign aid bill that garnered support from a majority of Democrats, labeling him a "traitor" to the entire nation.

Taking to the same platform, Greene wrote, "Zelensky thanks Speaker Mike Johnson (D-Ukraine) for sending $61 BILLION of your hard-earned tax dollars to fuel a foreign war. Johnson once again passed a bill with the help of Democrats while the majority of the Republican majority voted against it. Not only is Mike Johnson a traitor to our conference, he's a traitor to our country."

On Saturday, the House successfully passed a $95 billion foreign aid package following several months of intense debate. The legislation included approximately $61 billion for Ukraine, $26 billion for Israel, as well as humanitarian aid earmarked for war-torn regions such as the Gaza Strip. Additionally, $8 billion was allocated for the Indo-Pacific region, alongside national security measures encompassing a potential ban on the popular social media app TikTok.

Greene's motion to remove Speaker Johnson from his position has garnered support from Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), but it remains unclear when she plans to initiate a vote on the matter. The chances of triggering the ouster resolution have been complicated by former President Trump's recent endorsement of Johnson's leadership during a joint press conference in Florida last week.

In addition to criticizing Speaker Johnson, Greene also chastised her Republican colleagues for opposing her amendment regarding funds for Kyiv. She shared a list of 139 GOP members who voted against her amendment, expressing her disappointment moments before the foreign aid package passed and proceeded to the Senate for further consideration.

As tensions continue to rise within the Republican party over their stance on foreign aid and internal leadership conflicts, the spotlight remains on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as she persists in challenging Speaker Mike Johnson's authority and asserting her position on funding allocations abroad.
