**Prominent Artists Unite to Protest AI Use of Their Work**

LONDON - A coalition of famed musicians, actors, and authors has come together to oppose the use of their creative works for training artificial intelligence tools. Thousands of artists expressed their concerns in a letter released on Tuesday, marking the latest in ongoing warnings about AI technologies that generate synthetic content based on significant amounts of human-created material.

The protest letter argues that using creative works without permission to train generative AI poses a significant and unfair threat to the livelihoods of the artists, musicians, and writers involved. Signatories include Björn Ulvaeus from the iconic Swedish band ABBA, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Thom Yorke and his Radiohead bandmates.

In addition to these musicians, the letter has the support of numerous celebrated writers and actors. Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro, actors Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Rosario Dawson, and bestselling novelist James Patterson are among those who appended their names to the document. Patterson had previously signed an open letter last year organized by the Authors Guild, which subsequently filed a lawsuit against several AI firms. This legal battle is currently ongoing in a federal court in New York.
