In a tragic incident outside a supermarket in Cleveland, a 3-year-old boy lost his life after being fatally stabbed in a random attack. The assailant, identified as 32-year-old Bionca Ellis of Cleveland, was swiftly apprehended by police shortly after the incident.

According to authorities, the attack occurred in less than five seconds and witnesses nearby were unable to intervene. The attack has been deemed as a random act of violence by investigators. Ellis, who was walking from the parking lot with a kitchen knife in her hand, was promptly arrested and charged with aggravated murder. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

Police dashcam and body camera footage captured a bystander pointing out Ellis as the perpetrator after the stabbing. Officers quickly took her into custody without resistance, with the knife being found next to her.

The incident unfolded at the Giant Eagle grocery store in North Olmsted, a Cleveland suburb, where Ellis observed the young boy and his mother near the store's entrance. Detectives revealed that Ellis followed them into the parking lot before suddenly charging at them with the knife, stabbing the boy twice. Tragically, the boy succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.

The child has been identified as 3-year-old Julian Wood, while his mother, Margot Wood, sustained a stab wound to her shoulder and received medical treatment at a nearby hospital, as per police reports.

Attempts to reach Ellis for comment went unanswered, and it remains unclear whether she has legal representation. During her brief court appearance, she remained silent.

Investigations revealed that Ellis obtained the knife from a nearby thrift store before entering the grocery store. Authorities have determined that there were no prior interactions between Ellis and the mother and son. Additionally, there is no known history of violence in Ellis' past, according to Sgt. Matt Beck of the North Olmsted police.
