### Rachel Zegler Issues Apology After Criticizing Donald Trump and His Supporters

Rachel Zegler, known for her roles in "West Side Story" and "Snow White," recently apologized after making critical statements about Donald Trump and his supporters. The 23-year-old actor, currently featured in Broadway's "Romeo + Juliet," had initially posted lengthy comments in response to Trump’s re-election. She expressed concern over the continued support for someone she believes threatens American democracy, describing the situation as a "deep, deep sickness" in the country.

In her initial remarks, Zegler echoed sentiments previously voiced by singer Ethel Cain, hoping that Trump and his supporters "never know peace." Her statement concluded with, "Fuck Donald Trump," sparking backlash, particularly from conservative circles online. Rightwing commentator Megyn Kelly even went as far as to label her "a pig."

In light of the backlash, Zegler released a new statement, expressing regret for her previous comments. She emphasized that hatred and anger only push people further away from peace and understanding. "I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse," she wrote in an Instagram story, acknowledging that the week had been emotionally charged for many. Zegler stressed the importance of respecting differing opinions and expressed her commitment to fostering a more positive future.

Zegler, who leads Disney’s upcoming $200 million live-action "Snow White" alongside Gal Gadot, co-written by Greta Gerwig, has previously stirred controversy among conservatives. In a red carpet interview with Extra, she critiqued the original animated "Snow White," calling its dynamic "weird" and suggesting that it portrayed a stalker narrative. Zegler defended the changes in the new film, stating in a Vanity Fair interview that the updated version focuses less on "dreaming about true love" and more on Snow White becoming a leader.

She joins numerous celebrities who have voiced their disapproval of Trump's re-election. Cardi B expressed sadness over the outcome, while John Cusack described it as "a sign of deep nihilism," referring to Trump as a convicted felon and Nazi.
