In a display of solidarity with Palestine, anti-Israel protesters have caused traffic chaos by blocking the Golden Gate Bridge and Interstate-880 in California. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced that both lanes of the Golden Gate Bridge had been shut down indefinitely. Similar protests have also been reported across the nation, including Philadelphia, Miami, and Chicago.

The demonstration on the Golden Gate Bridge was captured on camera, with images showing protesters holding banners reading "Stop the world for Gaza" and "End the siege on Gaza now!" The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management referred to the closure as a "civic demonstration" and stated that the bridge would remain closed until further notice.

Aerial footage provided by KTVU revealed that law enforcement personnel apprehended seven protesters and confiscated the banners. CHP spokesperson Andrew Barclay indicated that additional protesters, some of whom were reportedly chained to their vehicles, were being targeted for removal. Barclay emphasized that the manner in which the protesters were blocking traffic was not only illegal but also presented a significant danger.

Meanwhile, in Oakland, the I-880 was also affected by demonstrators who had attached themselves to concrete barrels in the middle of the roadway. The protest, organized by the A15 Action group, was aimed at causing economic disruption. A flag adorned with the message "A-15 economic blockade for a Free Palestine" was prominently displayed.

Real-time traffic data from Google Maps illustrated the extensive delays that resulted from the protests in the Bay Area. Delays and traffic diversions have inconvenienced commuters and triggered frustration among local residents.

These protests come as part of a global pro-Palestine rally planned by activists for Monday. Sky News Australia reported that protesters intentionally withheld information on specific protest locations to maximize disruption. The A15 Action group, in a statement on its website, asserted that escalating the movement for Palestine and targeting the global economy had become essential.

Law enforcement officials have indicated that protesters may face charges including refusal to disperse, blocking traffic, and blocking a bridge, which constitutes a specific penal code violation in California.

As the protests continue to unfold nationwide, authorities are working to restore normal traffic flow and ensure the safety of both protesters and the general public.
