In new court papers filed by prosecutors, shocking details have emerged regarding actor Alec Baldwin's behavior on the set of the film "Rust," including an alleged incident where he fired a blank round at a crew member. The filing accuses Baldwin, known for his role in "30 Rock," of being reckless with firearms during filming, culminating in the tragic shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021.

Scheduled to begin on July 9, Baldwin's trial for involuntary manslaughter in New Mexico will feature evidence presented by prosecutors, showcasing the actor's history of disregard for safety protocols on set. One such incident, as recounted in the court filing, involved Baldwin intentionally pointing his gun and firing a blank round at a crew member while the person was in his line of sight.

The prosecution also alleges that Baldwin consistently ignored safety procedures leading up to the shooting. Examples cited in the court papers include using his gun as a pointer, firing the weapon after filming had ended in violation of safety rules, and keeping his finger on the trigger during scenes that did not require it. Additionally, Baldwin is said to have rushed the armorer to reload his gun faster and engaged in activities unrelated to filming, such as being on FaceTime with his family and creating videos for them during firearms training.

The court filing further claims that before filming commenced, Baldwin, who served as a producer and the leading actor in the movie, specifically requested to be assigned the "biggest" gun available. Prosecutors assert that they possess photos and videos showing Baldwin cavalierly disregarding on-set safety rules. In one clip, he can be observed engaging in horseplay with his gun and pulling it out when the scene did not call for it, with the muzzle of the gun pointed directly at another actor.

Furthermore, prosecutors allege that Baldwin displayed anger and aggression on multiple occasions while filming. The court papers describe him frequently halting the acting sequence and shouting profanities at the crew. Videos reportedly show Baldwin exercising complete control over the set by yelling intermittently and rushing the cast and crew.

Based on this evidence, prosecutors argue that the incident cannot be classified as an "accident or mistake," as Baldwin has claimed. On the day of the tragic rehearsal, Baldwin aimed his revolver in the direction of Hutchins, resulting in her death and the injury of director Joel Souza. The actor pleaded not guilty and, if convicted, faces up to 1 and 1/2 years in prison.

It is worth noting that armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, aged 26, who was responsible for overseeing the weapons on set, has already been convicted and sentenced to 18 months behind bars on the same charge now faced by Baldwin.

A video hearing has been scheduled for Friday to address various motions ahead of the upcoming trial. At the time of writing, Baldwin's lawyers had not responded to requests for comment.
