**College Football Super League Proposal Revealed by Private Equity Firm**

In a bold new development for college football, a private equity firm has pitched a groundbreaking proposal for a super league involving major power conferences. According to a report by Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger, Smash Capital, headed by former Disney executives, has been in discussions with over 25 athletic directors from top-tier conferences about "Project Rudy."

Central to this pitch is a vision of a 70-team super league drawn from the four power conferences. This league would see significant overhauls in various facets, including postseason expansion, adjusted scheduling, tiered revenue distribution, and a massive infusion of up to $9 billion in private funding.

A notable aspect of Smash Capital's plan is the elimination of games against Group of Five and FCS opponents, encouraging higher-stakes matches between power conference teams. The proposal also includes the consolidation of media rights for the 70 participating schools, streamlining current fragmented deals across conferences and television networks.

This strategic move aims to capitalize on the shifts in the landscape of college athletics, driven largely by the desire for enhanced media and sponsorship deals. Smash Capital projects that these changes could boost media and sponsorship revenue by approximately $15 billion over a 12-year span.

While it remains to be seen if this proposal will materialize, the introduction of Project Rudy indicates that the long-debated separation of college football’s power conferences from the NCAA's broader framework might be closer than ever to becoming a reality.
